Meet the Celebrant2
It seems I have spent a lifetime in public speaking and officiating ceremonies as a teacher, school principal and lay preacher. I recently qualified as a registered Marriage Celebrant in order to officiate the wedding of our daughter and her (now) husband. After receiving kind feedback and several requests to officiate for other couples, I have relented and here we are.
I live in Toowoomba, Queensland, with my wife Kerrie and our two dogs Ripp and Smudge. Kerrie and I have four adult children and three rambunctious grandsons on whom we dote. Before becoming a celebrant in my semi-retirement, I was a History teacher in schools in Queensland, the United Kingdom and Victoria, and a school principal for 18 years in Queensland.
I share with the German philosopher/poet Goethe the belief that life is too short to drink bad wine. My other loves include classical music, especially opera, the English literary tradition, and good food.
My lifelong love of history and travel has led to my other semi-retirement occupation, conducting small group historical and cultural tours of Europe, travelling by train. More recently I have begun “digging up” our ancestors through family history research: this proved to be my favourite waste of time during the pandemic.
I look forward to hearing from you and to assisting you in planning your very special day.
